Hello everyone, I am trying to get some info on the red hoover runabout. My grandma had one when I was a kid and it disappeared as I grew up. I am wanting one and have been on the hunt for years now. Luckily I have found 2 online but they are different, one is almost identical to the one I remember as a kid (1st Pic), except it has a the outer bag as a non-zip and hers had the zipper along the side.

The first picture I am uploading is one that looked like hers but this one doesn't have the bag hers had. The second picture is her bag but not the bottom half of hers. If you took the bag from the second picture and put it on the first picture's machines it would be her vacuum. In picture 3 you can see the "Allergen Filtration" label on the vacuum, I believe hers had this as well.

I am thinking I might buy the first pic vac and keep it because it is the closest to the original one I remember. I'll hope for the best that I can find an outer bag to eventually replace it with. Or buy picture 2 vac and swap bags, even though it's, not the exact one I am wanting because it is missing the label.

If anyone has any pictures information I would appreciate it or of course that exact one for sale, I wouldn't mind discussing it!

Thank You all

Hoover Runabout

Hi, Ruby!

Did you ever find the Hoover Runabout you were looking for? I have one! I'd be happy to gift it to you if you don't mind paying the shipping costs (or traveling here to get it). I'm located in New Orleans, and I see that you are in Illinois. My Runabout has the soft bag, but the graphic is a little different from the one in the first photo you posted (see my attached photo). I was searching online for a new belt when I stumbled upon your post, so I joined the Vacuumland website just so I could communicate with you!

I originally found this vacuum on the side of the road about 8 years ago and had it serviced by a local business that refurbishes vacuum cleaners. I've been keeping it in my downstairs apartment that I was renting out, and it seems a couple screws came loose, so the plate that holds the roller came off. I'm sure I can reattach it, but the screws won't be original. I was going to just give it to the vacuum guy to either refurbish or cannibalize for parts, but I would rather give it to you, since you're specifically looking for one.

Feel free to get back to me by phone, email, or through this website.

Sincerely,
Sandy
