Hi,
I'm a bit new to vintage vaccums so please excuse me if I'm asking a newbie question.

I am restoring both a model 300 and a model 700 special (updated to a 725) vacuum cleaners. I would like to use them for use in my weekly cleaning. However, The beater bar that the model 300 came with has worn brushes and bearings and the model 700 came with a replacement brushroll which I'm not sure how to identify. I have taken a few pictures of this brushroll.

Is a way to subatitute the older beater bars and use more attainable and newer brushroll/beater bars? Or a vintage hoover convertible beater bar? I'm not sure if they are the same size. I have seen the eureka sanataire beater bar but I'm not sure if it will fit or break something. If I am able to use a different brushroll or beater bar, is there a different type of belt I would need?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Sean B.

The brush strips for the 300 and 700 are

300
long 82344
short 82345

700
long 8639 or 8955 depending on the series
short 8640 or 8956 depending on the series

The brush roll that you are holding if it is from a Hoover is a much later Hoover that either the 300 or the 700.
Those would be metal and have beater bars and replaceable brush strips.

The 300 would have the same agitator (brush roll) as the 305.

The Agitator number would be
300 42727
700 40046 or 41719 depending on the series

Thank you for the information. Is there a way that I can retrofit it with another kind of brushroll just incase I cannot source the original parts? The original beater bars seem hard to find and I can't really use,the one I have right now as the bearings are worn.

I apreciate that. I will keep looking out for them. I might put an ad on here since there is a supermarket. Just incase I wanted to fix my old beater bar for the 300, would you know what the right bearings are to replace them? Thanks for all the helpful info!

I gave an entire tote full of vintage brush rolls to Vacuumland member "chicago mike" this past September. I'm absolutely sure there are brush rolls in that tote for your machine. Contact him and ask about them. He will sell them I'm sure.

The brush roll in your pictures is an aftermarket brush without beaters and is not an acceptable replacement for the original.

unless the bearing balls are pitted. just put new grease in the bearings and theyll be fine. you dont want non servible bearings in an antique cleaner youll use as a DD.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the help and advice!

Bikerray, I apreciate the part numbers and will definitely keep an eye out.

Bnsd60m9200, I'll go ahead and grease those bearings and see how they go.

Dyonman11, I apreciate the lead and I'll go ahead and email ChicagoMike.

I'm really excited about getting these two hoovers up and running.

When I got the 300 it was in horrible shape. I bought it from an older gentleman whose parents received it as a wedding gift brand new.
It had been stored in an old garage and it hadn't been turned on in over a decade. I snagged it for $50 with the original attatchments and instruction booklet in the box.

I cleaned it up and it's looking really good now.

The 700 was a barn find up in Pennsylvania. Someone was clearing out a barn for rehab, and it was by luck that the seller was there. The person renovating was going to throw it out! I haven't started on cleaning that one up yet but I'm excited to start.

The bags they came with are the generic brown hoover replacement bags that had ripped, I'll keep those, but for look sake I'm going to try to recreate the original bags on my singer.

These are beautiful machines and I can't wait to use them! All your help has been really appreciated! Thank you!
