Hi Alex!

I can help you with that! Are you looking for one that’s restored?

Hi myvacsrock.

There are squeaks in the tech drive near the right wheel, and a few days ago I broke a fan blade. I live in a part of Arizona where there isn't a vac shop, let alone a Kirby dealer. So, let's talk about this.

If you are just looking for a great parts unit, I have one still listed here.
www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bi...
Free, just pay for shipping.
I forget what kind of fan it has - if grey then you probably do not want it.
It is destined for the scrappers this spring.

G-4 has been taken care of.

Got the new power plant of the G-4 today, 3/6/23 complete with a new fan, and some fantastic polishing. Can't see and difference in my rug nozzle which is original, 10/20/94 and the main motor unit. And the tech drive works without the squeaks of the old one. I was told this was used as a shampooer, wouldn't know it now. This is a work of art, and I plan to be very careful where I use it. Carpets only.

Thank you, Rob.

G-4.

Just read through these posts again. So glad this wonderful Kirby was saved from being scrapped. I can see many years of life in this G-4, and I have all the parts so it's complete, but as I said will treat it with kid gloves.

Hey Alex,
Glad you are enjoying your 'new' G4 power plant! Happy to know it arrived safely also - this is the first time I had sent something this big through the US postal service. They were spot-on on the sipping quote as well.

I was disappointed that all of the deep stains in the metal would not come out but we both knew that going in. The Kirby Magic was just not there.
However it looks great at 6' away and is perfect for your use as an everyday driver - something one would not want to use a fully restored unit for.

I noticed it took a whole year for me to find the right person it was for.
It sat at my friend's thrift store for about another year until she gave it to me instead of trashing it.

I was close to having to scrap it as I have too much stuff and I am tripping on everything and crap is falling down all around me. It was in a box in the garage behind a car that has to come out soon.
Not being an entire vacuum made it undesirable, and its appearance was even more a turnoff.
I could not give it away locally and shipping it was cost prohibitive in most cases.

I always believe there is a buyer for most anything of reasonable value but the hard part is finding that person. That person also has to see through the ugly part to see the hidden beauty. And then the cost is much more justified.

So the few hours of labor was well worth it to help someone out, as well as save an old mechanical marvel. Glad you appreciated it too - you are very welcomed.
Have fun using it!
-Rob

Thanks again Rob.

Wait till I take pictures, you won't even notice the deep stains in the metal. In fact, there are a few on the nozzle too. These simply make it what it is, a well-used Kirby.

Too bad all my other Kirby's are in storage, but if you ever want to take on a big project, I have a 1-C, and a 2-C, that need polishing. All parts, including the cord and bag are original. But we can talk about that if I ever sell this house and get my collection out of storage. Here's a couple of pictures of my Kirby's in I think 1985. and the display room in 1993. Also a few of my non-electrics. These date from 1890-1912.
