The Royal Purifier as shown here was the forerunner of the Electro-Hygiene. However, it is a bit newer than the ebay post stated because before 1928 the bag outlet on all Royals was on the opposite side of the fan case from where it is shown here. So, this Purifier would have to have been built after the change was made in 1928, but before March of 1934, when the Purifier was rebadged as the Electro-Hygiene, and the company of the same name began as a wholly owned subsidiary of the P.A. Geier Company. And I agree with Les, I wouldn't pay any more than $100 for it, and only then if it was in top condition.

Have a electro hygiene 230 straight suction that looks very similar to this vacuum. It's rough but I got a wheel coming for it and I put a royal bag on it and I've used it to clean my room for 3 weeks and the straight suction is awesome. I'm pretty sure my model is maybe 1950s. I got it from Thomas with the vacuette. I paid shipping and it's a sweet vacuum.

Your Electro-Hygiene was built between 1945 and 1954, might be able to narrow it down a bit more, depending on if it is a 230 or a 2-230. If it is a 230, it was built between 1945 and 1952, and if it is a 2-230 it was built in 1953 or 54. Not much difference between the 230 and the 2-230, except that the motor housing on the 2-230 is a bit more streamlined and the bag color was changed from black to blue. Then in 1955 they were replaced by the revolving brush model 285. Here are pics of my 2-230 with attachments and my oldest 285.

Glad you enjoyed the pics! Yes, there was an Electro-Hygiene hand vac. Basically, a Royal 501 with Electro-Hygiene on the bag. And since yours is a 2-230, the bag would be identical to the one on mine. Actually, my 2-230 as you see it in the picture is all original, right down to the Belden cords and plugs! I only wish I could get the wands, floor brush, and crevice tool to complete the attachment set.
