My father-in-law found this 2009 Hoover wind tunnel at a thrift store for five dollars. He was kind enough to pick it up for me. The bag had at least 12 pounds of dirt in it, leading me to Believe it was the original bag based on the overall condition of the machine. I put a brand new HEPA bag in it and a new belt. It runs like the day it left the factory.

I have the very best in-laws. My mother-in-law loves me like her own son, and my father-in-law is always looking out for me with vacuums.

The brush control knob was missing, a $.54 fix and it’s working perfectly.

Wow! What a find! This is the "special special" Anniversary edition which has the chrome trimmed wheels. In addition to that, being the top of the line model with the dirt finder, power drive, and the dual floor adjustments with the covered turbo nozzle. I have the one with the plain black wheels and exposed turbo nozzle with no door. There is also a low end model with single floor adjustment and no power drive as well.
Somewhere on Vacuumland someone posted a long time ago on a thread when these had just ended production that the chrome trim wheel models were a small batch of 100 or so that were produced at the TTI factory as the last of the line. The others with the plain wheels were made in the China factories. These chrome wheel models seem to be harder to find than the normal models, so I believe that information is correct. I hardly ever see ones with the chrome wheels come up for sale compared to how many plain wheel ones do. |

I found a similar one a few months ago. I was very happy about it, because I'd been looking for it for a while.
Mine is the same color as yours, but doesn't have the nicer chrome trim or chrome hubcaps, and it has the cheapo Dirt Devil dusting brush. It also doesn't have a turbo tool cover. The one I have is from 2012, and of course Made in China. From what I remember, I think only the very early ones like yours were called Anniversary, for Hoover's 100th Anniversary (2008). The rest in the ensuing years were just called Windtunnel. There are several different color schemes that this basic machine came under, depending whether it was sold at Sam's Club, maybe QVC/HSN, Home Depot, etc. The Walmart and Sears ones were blue though. |

All the blue ones that came out of the year of Hoover's 100th were all called Anniversary Editions. The one with chrome wheels came in a fancy box and it made a big hubbub of being an anniversary model. The other ones it was not prominent on the box but Hoover officially names them such.
