I can't figure out the odd buzzing noise it's making and it drives me nuts. I've also been cutting down on duplicates and this seems too similar to a convertible to me.
I think I have about 70 into it so that's what I'd like to get. If you'd like this put on a site like Ebay I'd ask for a little more to cover seller fees.

My Hoover model 28 does that too.

It could be the commutator, which sometimes becomes rough and needs a polish.

As another commenter says could be the commumtator needs dressing.I may be interested in this vacuum if we could somehow hammer out something.Price, payment method and shipping.

Update

blackheart's profile picture
It's still up for sale. I can also break the machine down into two packages to ship via offerup they have a weight limit of 20 lbs so i figured 2 listings and you can save on shipping costs

If you can break it down as you say-maybe we can try again? Please give me an estimate on this.If this can lower the cost of shipping than I can be interested.

I mentioned that in a 2nd email after the thought had occurred to me. They have a 20 lbs weight limit on packages and the unit as a whole is overweight but if it were broken down into 2 packages it should work. Shipping for each item would be like 15. for a total of like 30. The only thing is you need an account with them and a credit/debit card for transactions
I sold a convertible last week to a collector in TX and the flat rate shipping saves a lot of money when it can be utilized.

Do you still have the vacuum? If so see if you can come up with a shipping estimates using the two package method.

Clearing up confusion.

I think we're having a little bit of a misunderstanding here I don't think shipping through conventional services is going to be cheaper in two smaller boxes. That's why I'm talking about OfferUp because they have flat shipping rates. If you signed up for an account I could list this Hoover 61 under two listings and have each listing shipped for a flat rate of 14.99 a piece bringing your total shipping cost to about $30. Does that make more sense?

Guess its easier to sell the vacuum to someone local. The shipping is just getting too confusing and involved.

Shipping in 2 boxes is not cheaper and if you break the vacuum down, which these do, you can fit it in a flat square box. Also remember these vacuums are practically made of cast iron, they are very very heavy. North Dakota to North Carolina is also a long distance so the rates rack up.

hmm?

blackheart's profile picture
I'm unsure who the response was directed towards but offerup uses prepaid shipping the largest of which has a weight limit of 20 lbs and ships for like 14.99 it's supposed to have a size limit too but I've received plenty of vacuums that clearly exceeded that size limit.

So by using offerup and breaking the unit down into 2 packages that were both under 20 lbs the total shipping cost would have totaled about $30. When I gave Rex his initial quote via USPS was like 105.95. The only problem with using offerup is the seller is charged a 12% fee.

Oh and the 61 has been parted out the fan and cloth bag were sold. Someone else is interested in the tools but i've yet to hear back from them.

Do you still have the hoover 61 agitator in the video?
I will be trying to earn it.
Thanks.

Yes I do. I was actually just thinking yesterday that I should list it on eBay or something.

@blackheart this agitator increased performance on my custom Hoover model 61 which has a model 60 handle release on the original grip.
Thank you very much.
