Hi Ben,
Just seen your question. Yes, it had the shakeout bag. The pictures were not great. I was in the middle of decorating and in a hurry to post an Ad. Hello Huskyvacs, Any Kirbys from the Tradition onward seem to be fairly common here, although somewhat neglected. Omegas and Classic IIIs are really hard to come by though. Our main problem is sourcing parts stateside. Postage is astronomical. Its easier for us to buy three or four machines to make a good one with a few spare parts left over. |

Alan,
I thought so! Quite rare for you guys! These examples will also have the shorter (4.5" long) rear axle, in order to accommodate it. There were a few late 1990 to '91 Legend IIs that had the shake-out bag but these last ones also had their large Emtors in a hammertoned maroon finish (as opposed to the hammertoned black finish used on the large Emtor from 1984-90). ~Ben |

My sister likes my pristine Kirby Tradition and said "I'd like one like that! Could you get me one in red?"
Everyone sees something different in a vacuum Alex. Vacuums which might not be appealing to you, may be appealing to others. It could be nostalgia, completing a series, or in this case; the opportunity to acquire a mint, boxed, unused Kirby as a gift. Some collectors enjoy the hunt, or rarity and value. For others, appearance is everything. Or it's the restoration challenge... None of us are acquiring another vacuum just to clean carpets, and vintage machines aren't renowned for being lightweight, compact, quiet and efficient. It's that other element, unique to each machine or collector, that forms the attraction. Just how 'interesting' does a vacuum cleaner get? Besides, these are lighter than later Kirby TechDrive models, they retain a large proportion of shiny aluminium as opposed to newer plastics, take HEPA disposable bags, have a decent hose, and still out-perform many later models (see YouTube Kirby Enthusiast). What's not to like? |
