Irony's, or karma? I was looking on Facebook marketplace for a used KitchenAid to put at the boyfriend's house when I'm there, while doing so I got a message from a long time friend clearing things up and did I want his old KitchenAid which had broken. A drive pin had sheared off, yeah it's already ordered. Cleaned up nicely! Not even any scratches. Let's just say that was excellent timing.

That's great. Some things are just meant to be.

Serendipity!

Very nice, it looks to be about the same age as mine, '91-92. Heavy duty with bowl lift, black in my case. Can you tell me what pin broke on yours? I'll keep an eye out for signs of wear on said part. I know that the plastic planetary pinion gear can break with heavy use. I was told to gradually increase speed from start to whatever speed I desire especially with a heavy batter in bowl, as this really puts a load on the gearing and the motor. Too bad they didn't have the "soft start" feature when ours were made. I've been covered in cake mix or similar more than once. Like a scene from I Love Lucy or The Three Stooges! Enjoy!

Maybe! Age? I have no idea, that model hasn't changed in forever! I know this was a Sam's club special, maybe 8? or ten years ago. The soft start came first in their Pro models, I have a 6 qt from 03 I think with that feature, but much more $$ than this one. Still a lovely machine, working very smoothly, it has had a busy last week.

True story...

human's profile picture
I worked for several years at a discount store called Tuesday Morning and we would occasionally get KitchenAid mixers in, usually no more than three or four per store, and they would sell out very quickly. One time, a customer brought one back, claiming it was missing the bowl when they opened it. We highly doubted they were telling the truth, but in keeping with our relatively liberal return policy, we refunded them their money. The manager subsequently put it on the scratch-n-dent shelf at the back of the store with a note, saying it was "missing its bowel".

Yeah, she has many good qualities but spelling isn't one of them.
