Good morning all,

Based on comments in other threads, I purchased Clean Obsessed HEPA bags for my recently-acquired Aire Jett A101W (private label TriStar.) This morning I vacuumed my entire house with the Aire Jett. I filled a bag but the vacuum still ran as if the bag was new, and there was no tearing of the bag's inner layer like I experienced when I used micro-lined bags in the TriStar MG-1 I used to have. I highly recommend these bags.

So glad you tried them. You'll also notice the cloth inner bag stays clean even on the side that's bombarded with dirt as it enters the bag. I use them in all my Compact and Tri-Star machines.

I'll be using them in my Aerus and E'lux vacs too

I'm so happy with the performance of these bags that I just now ordered the same brand for my Aerus and E'lux vacs. I'll keep genuine paper bags in them when they're on display, but I'll put in a HEPA bag whenever I use one. Especially in my Aerus vacs since you wrote elsewhere that the V3 motors get out of balance easily. I'm assuming that's the motor that's in my C151D and C153A. Both run fine so I'm in no hurry to look inside.

You'll never have to worry about dust throwing off the balance on the VM3 motor if you use the HEPA bags. I use the Perfect V.A.C. bags in every machine they make the bags for. You can't believe the difference the cloth HEPA bags make to the old Eureka and Sanitaire machines. Clean Obsessed bags are identical but for the packaging.

Sanitaire bags

Thanks for the tip on the Sanitaire bags. My new SC688B came with ST premium synthetic bags that I bought extras of. Once I use them all, I will switch to HEPA bags in it as well. This bag technology is what we've been wanting forever, and I'm glad to know it's available for so many makes and models. Thanks too for pointing out that the V.A.C. and Clean Obsessed bags are identical save the packaging, because the V.A.C. bags seem to sell for a bit less.

Where to buy these bags

Amazon has them. Also, websites like www.evacuumstore.com... has them or equivalents. I purchased mine from Amazon.

Hmm, I thought I posted this previously

Apparently my original reply to Thevacomaticiec got lost in the ether, so I will paraphrase. You should be fine with your current bags and HEPA pre-motor filter, but the HEPA bags solve (at least for me) the problem of the vacuum losing suction as the bag fills. They filter far better and perform better. I used Envirocare micro-lined bags with the TriStar MG-1 I used to have, and the liner did get shredded as others have written. I have no such problem with the HEPA bags.

HEPA bags

I have a Patriot canister which I like more than the TriStar (the newer ones!) which has one of these VAC HEPA bags and I could not believe the astounding amount of fine dirt, grit, loose hairs and whatever else it trapped. Pounds and pounds of dust and crud, where did it all come from. Amazing. The main and significant problem is getting the bag out of the cloth filter bag without it spilling everywhere, whew what a mess. This stuff is absolutely toxic. Almost need a hazmat suit to do this messy job.

Matthew, I have a Patriot as well, much agreed, the angle of the bag makes it tricky to get the bag out without spilling dirt when you open the bag door. Try tipping the vacuum back BEFORE opening the bag door, that will make the dirt piled up at the front of the bag sit at the back of the bag when you open it up. I was getting tired of the paper bags for the TriStar, Miracle Mate and my Patriot, so I modified all of them to use generic Kenmore C/Q or Miele GN HEPA Cloth bags bought cheaply from AliExpress. All I had to do with the Patriot was remove the tube from the bag door, then wrap the metal tube on the door the rubber tube mounts on with tape to increase the diameter so the bag fits snug. Then take a pair of scissors and cut the arrows and clip off the bottom of the Miele bag collar before putting it on. With the Miracle Mate, you simply have to save a cardboard bag top to use with the bag so it seals properly. Now all 3 have sealed HEPA Cloth bags with excellent filtration :).

Antoine, the V.A.C. HEPA Cloth bags are not on Amazon.ca, only Amazon.com in America, so who knows if they will ship here, and you would pay a small fortune if they did. Buy a pack of generic Kenmore C/Q HEPA Cloth bags, remove the cardboard collar, cut the bag open at the front, then line the cloth bag with it, put it in and close the bag door. Used to do that and works well, seals up nicely.

I might do that when i  run  out o f my  Tristar,  compact  bag  storage i have down  stairs  .  For now  a paper bag and periodic  cleaning  of the Cloth bag  with the  hose in the blower port bag door wide open  seems to  help  . Thanks

No link?

I had a problem finding them. I tried searching for clean obsessed which was pages of misc stuff, tried vacuum america clean, and vac36 "item code" and wasn't finding them. The are there I cannot remember what I used to finally find them but man what a pain. I've still got 2 of the hepas left but I wanted that free shipping since I had one other item I had to order.

I tried those closed top bags for patriot but just....wasn't feeling it with them. I like the closed top concept it's much cleaner but dislike that they're still paper. I've seen the C/Q conversion method but that wouldn't work for the Tristar DXL at least without modding it.

Anyways here's a link to the bags for those still seeking them.

Devin and Gary - I totally agree, the closed top Patriot bags should be made of HEPA Cloth material, would be mess free to empty and provide excellent pre-motor filtration. The closed top bag should also be made STANDARD equipment, not optional, discontinue the Stormy Bag, and distribute the closed top bag thru distributors to sell in vac shops since Patriot dealers aren't common like other DTD dealers are.

Devin - The way I used the Kenmore C/Q HEPA Cloth bag in the Patriot and TriStar in the past was to take the cloth bag out, take the Kenmore bag, cut it open at the front, take off the cardboard collar, stuff it into the cloth bag, wrap the excess over the metal rim and rubber seal, put it back in and close the bag door. Seals up perfectly inside the vacuum with no need for a cardboard collar. I grew tired of the open bag though, so I converted the TriStar with a plastic extension wand from a Bissell PowerForce and a brass plumbing piece from the hardware store. Just stick it into the bag door with the hose inserted and put the bag onto it. To make the seal, I made a cardboard collar for it.

I also used another Bissell PowerForce tube to convert the Patriot, TriStar and Miracle Mate to use the Electrolux Guardian HEPA filter. Huge cheapskate here....NOT spending $200 plus shipping and taxes for the Patriot Medik Aire HEPA filter when the Electrolux filter is under $50 on Ebay. I will have to make a post soon detailing how to do these conversions.

Rob

PS - Devin, where was this you have seen the C/Q bag conversion method before? I would be interested to see how others have done it.
