Years ago, probably 2007 or 2008 it was, I received a rather frantic contact from the great Alex B regarding a Hoover on Craigslist that needed to be grabbed up immediately. Naturally, I was very curious, and BEHOLD, it was the Bicentennial floating Celebrity with the P/N!!!!! Of course, I immediately got ahold of the lady, and went and got it as soon as I could.

And this is where the story takes a turn for the facacta... I got the machine home, stashed it with the other projects, canister, cord and hose still cocooned in the white Hefty bag I received it in... By the time I tracked down a good brush roll for the head, and was ready to begin the restoration of the thing, the machine was nowhere to be found... All I could find was the P/N... Someone claimed later that they thought it was trash and threw it out!! I'm sure you can all appreciate how inconsolable I was, as this wasn't just any dirty old Hoover in a trash bag! It wasn't until years, and I mean at least a complete decade later that I discovered it was actually piled under a bunch of other nonsense in the basement, and finally today I bothered to dig it out while I was doing other cleaning and organizing.

So here it is! Still awaiting its long overdue restoration, but, now that I actually know where it is, and have it out...I'll keep you all posted.

Wow! What a lucky circumstance, i bet you were hitting the roof when you found it. Even 10 years ago those were rare I can't imagine getting one now, and if one did show up someone would probably want $600 for it.

What terrific luck. That's one rare machine. I remember them when they sold them new. Didn't Austin have one?
