My parents have a 8 or so year old Riccar SLR commercial model vacuum. Recently it has gotten extremely loud. I removed the belt and still extremely loud, are these vacs repairable? Any idea what might be wrong? It makes an old oreck seem quiet by comparison. Thanks.

Either you have a clog or a cracked fan. But yes they are easily repairable.

bad fan, bad bearings, dry bearings, etc. Motor needs a cleanup and tune up and it will be good to go again.
