I acquired a U4003 Hoover vacuum. As I am not familiar with Hoovers of this vintage (ca. 1974)- is it possible to find a new hood and cord for it?
Can anyone help identify comparable models where parts may interchange?

Yes I know it’s not museum quality and has been “hacked or bojacked” but if I can find a similar aftermarket or NOS bag and hood that would be fine. Even a similar hood that can be painted…

It is sentimental and would like to make it look nice if possible. Any information or leads and positive input would be appreciated. Thank you.

in all honesty youd be less pressed to find an all intact original machine than parts for one. especially cosmetic parts such as a hood and bag. original hoods, bags and cords rarely come across by themselves.

the u4003 isnt that rare and comes across commonly on facebook marketplace. id use this one for parts since its so beat up.

It's not really all that beat up. Remove the door hinges and fill the holes with epoxy. Sand lightly to blend it in. Buff and polish the plastic, then color match and paint the epoxy. Lens could be had for cheap, and you could either stick a repop Hoover roundel on from a newer machine or get a decal made up of the correct logo. No idea who would think door hinges and screws would be a good repair for that when GLUE exists.
