I was able to purchase this ca. 1979 Hoover Concept 1. Any advice or recommendations on how to clean-up and remove scuff marks from the white plastic? I have little experience in polishing/shining plastic housings. Thank you.

Rubbing alcohol removes paint marks from hard plastic without damaging it. We used it on Simplicity and Riccar vacuums all the time. Lacquer thinner works on Vinyl like cords or bumpers but NOT on hard plastic.

I know this works on Dyson but I don’t know if it works on Hoover too. My mom gets a Mr. Clean magic eraser, wets it and starts rubbing away at the scuffs, but you really have to put pressure on the mr clean magic eraser. If it’s a scuff that won’t come out she uses tooth paste and keeps rubbing.

Removes permanent markers. Mr clean will get most stains of off plastic. SOS brillo pads help remove marks. If you get car interior cleaner and or polisher will help polish the plastic.

I use Simple Green on bumpers, etc.

I've also had great results with Bon Ami to remove scuffs on plastic hoods, bases, etc.
I learned lots of techniques in North canton.............Brasso is another product.
