This was a December 23, 1984 advertisement in the San Francisco Chronicle for the Sovereign. Gosh, I wish I had bought one (though I'm not fond of the wine color). Sovereigns were not around for long in the US.

I was in my vacuum shop in 1984, never saw any of THOSE Hoover
machines, in Ohio or the midwest, they seemed to be marketed on
the coast of the country. I remember seeing that advertisement in the Vacuum Dealer Trade Association newspaper. Was hoping I'd get to try one or see one. If anyone ever comes upon one, grab it at any reasonable cost.
AS I have never seen one in person. Has anyone else ??

'Hooverize'?!

Never heard that one before!

I hoover. He/she/it hoovers. The carpet is hoovered. We are hoovering.

But NEVER 'Hooverize'!

I was thinking that too, Jack!

And I'm not convinced that Her Madge was instrumental in the conception of the Turbopower/Sovereign line, although the idea of her phoning Perivale with her demands amuses me. Talk about a Hoover fit for a Queen, hehehe.

As a kid, I used to think the Queen had a gold plated Hoover Junior... Shame they hadn't used a Liz lookey likey instead of Miss big glasses'n'batwings.
