I just bought a Eureka 2062D, made by The Eureka Company. I have several questions:

1. When did Eureka introduce ESP?
2. What other colors did this model come in?
3. When was this made?

Your model was probably made in the 70s

I am positive you have a 1970s Eureka. Eureka had these vacuums in red, blue, gray, and green. They also had a widetrak version.

I would estimate your Eureka to be from the early 1980's. The key factor for me is the lettering for the brand name used on the nameplate right above the Dial-a-Nap height adjuster dial. Before 1980, most Eurekas had the classic Eureka Williams logo with the "flying E" icon. After that year, Eureka's new owners Electrolux changed the graphic to a simpler one with just the company name - by 1983 most Eureka cleaners had the new logo graphic which is on your cleaner. A few years later, the company italicized the letters which we started seeing on later versions of the Eureka Express canister - around 1985.

I have seen Eureka uprights with the identical motor hood in blue, green and even cherry red.

ESP denoted a new more powerful motor installed in 2000 series uprights starting in the year 1976 (the famous Brandywine upright from that year sported it)...the Extra Suction Power feature was still being marketed by Eureka 15 years later - and even some Electrolux cleaners in Europe sported the marketing feature over the years.

I was thinking it was made around 1982.

Interesting. What's your thinking behind that estimate?

The plastic "nipple" date wheel says "84" on it

Its just a guess.

I googled it. I would not be able to tell you what year your model is from unless I saw a date wheel, but since you said the date wheel said 84 on it, you probably have a 1984 model.
