As I had said before, I want to think the metal spring on this bag was probably corroded and lost its elasticity. You could repair that with a metal clamp, as shown in this Kirby service bulletin for Classic Omega armored bags. ~Ben

The bag in photos 1-4 says 'Hoover' on it so it's definitely not original. The bag in Photos 5-7 is a Kirby bag in the proper color scheme for a Tradition. If the radiator clamp suggestion doesn't work to your satisfaction, you may want to consider replacing the bag assembly with one from a Heritage/Legend series machine. This would also give you the opportunity to ditch the dump bag in favor of a disposable filter bag setup. All of the components should be plug-n-play.
