Do they use universal motors? I have one in the UK I want to import to the US but I don't want to use a big converter box. Any tips?

My friend Doug Smith from Canada made me this wonderful 240 V electrical box to use with all of my British vacuums. It’s so simple. You plug the box into the dryer outlet and then plug the vacuum into the box.
