It's a combination Rug and Bare floor tool. The 'flip brush,' belongs to the first General Electric swivel-top of 1952/53. With the G.E. you lifted the wand and the tool actually flipped, going from carpet to bare floor. Due to patent rights, Electrolux couldn't follow the design so the user had to remove the swivel connector and do it manually. This was the question that baffled us collectors for years. Which came out first? Electrolux, or G.E.? Electrolux transitioned to the combination tools with the model E, and E Automatic. By then, however, G. E. had beaten them to the punch. As to the combination dusting brush/upholstery tool, that is exclusively Electrolux. By the way the man who designed both of these tools was Gustave E. Lofgren who was the head of the research department for over twenty five years.
