Hey all, so my Hoover Spin Scrub is getting up there in years, and the motor sounds....tired. I've tried a few new machines (Bissell Proheat, the one that looks like a normal vac, and a Rug Doctor Flex Clean, and the current Hoover Spin Scrub), and I'm really not impressed. Does anyone have any recommendations? I use it a lot at friends places and want something good.

I had same worries as they changed the machine a few years ago, like what I have! My brother moved and left me his, a twin, so I have a second machine or a parts machine, either way is fine. Good luck

I would recommend the Bissell big Green machine, The rug Doctor X3 if you can still find one & Numatic George.

Here's a link

I could have sworn I posted to this thread this morning!

I suggest the Bissell Big green bought my used about 8 ish years ago it's only had one repair which was a failed solenoid. It's so much more convenient than a rug dr since you can push it forward, it still only picks up water in the backwards pass, the removable clean water tank and the fact that it uses less water.

I know some places like Lowes and Petsmart do rent them if you wanted to try it out before buying.

i've liked my rug dr wide track. the commercial stuff just cleans better. my older hoover is ok...but i mostly use it for spills and smaller stuff.

Service the motor. New carbon brushes, armature polish, fresh grease. I just put $250 in parts into the first shampooer my parents bought getting it going again after sitting unused 20 years.

Bissell proheat is better than Rug Doctor so I'd just scratch that suggestion. The reviews aren't great. I have a bissell proheat 2 and it works well for me but scratch that one too.
I'd get a newer big green clean machine. Forgive me if the new ones are similar to the old ones because I don't know. I only know the big green clean machine seems to have the best reviews and it's the one I'd suggest.

Thanks all, I really appreciate the input. I'll be looking at the Big Green, and the RD X3 I guess, and I do like the idea of a larger water capacity. I'll let y'all know what I end up landing on.

Bissell Big Green

Is the Big Green a canister cleaner or an upright? I know at one point they made a machine called the Big Green, it could dry vacuum, wet vacuum and clean carpet and hard floors. I think it used water for the filtration but it didn't have a separator so that would be a mess to clean out.

@n0oxy yes there used to be a canister big green machine but that's not what we're discussing here.
Bissell's entire commercial line is now called "big Green"
Just confuse us all even more.
Here's a link to the exact machine being recommended.
