I figured I'd do a separate thread for the vintage Machines I've acquired as well. I found a Dirt Devil broomvac and later a hose kit for it, A dirt Devil Roommate (after years of searching), a Hoover quik-broom supreme, and this Hoover Celebrity QS

On a related note. Does anyone know any Hoover motor repair experts? I've tried and tried with this celebrity motor but i cannot get it to balance and it's kind of chewed up the opening in the bottom fan twice now. I've taken it apart again and again and just can't seem to get it/ I probably won't want to start the project for another 2 weeks but I like to get things lined up when i can. I figured I can ship the motor to them for repairs I've kinda given up on it, but i'd really like to get this vac running.

Nice selection

The Hoover celebrity was a nice vacuum. I got an opportunity years ago to try one out at a neighbors house.

The Dirt devil broom vacuum is nice for quick clean ups or even a travel trailer. Just the right size. I would like to have the hose for the one I have. It's same one you have. Would be fun to see what it can do just for the fun of it all. And a complete unit with the extra options.

Nice finds. I'm on the lookout for a Broom Vac. I've seen a few in thrift stores but more than I wanted to pay. I'm also looking for a Celebrity with power nozzle like that, maybe the green model.

Nice machines...

The Celebrity is on my 'wouldn't mind having' list, not that I'm really passionately on the hunt for one. I had a Quick Broom Supreme like yours for a while. Mine was green. I wasn't using it so I gave it to a friend who needed it. I don't have a Broom Vac I've got a hose kit for one that I got awhile back after I got my first Royal Prince handheld. I really just needed the belt tool and this was going so cheap it made more sense than buying the belt tool a la carte.

I'd be more concerned with why the fan is chewing up the fan. That's not a balance issue. That's more like play in the bearings... bent housing maybe. Maybe shaft is aligned wrong in the bearings. Something like that. Plus if the fan blade is chewed up, it's basically defacto off balance now, but that's a secondary problem to why it got chewed up in the first place.

Fans

Hmm, a friend of mine seemed insistent that they needed alignment but he's not too familiar with these machines. I ordered a pair of NOS fans thinking that would fix it and it happened again. I did replace the front bearing and oiled the rear bushing. I've had this thing apart so many times now to try to fix this and my friend tried his hand at it as well and the issue remains. I just can't seem to get this fixed and decided it would be best left to an expert.

The threads on the armature where the fans attach. If they were cross threaded that most definitely do it.
You could check conductivity of the commuters. I think that's what they're called. You get a volt meter. Put one on top and one on the bottom. The test could be commuters opposite each other 180 degrees. If you are touching both the current should be around one. If it lower or higher it's bad. Is the armature made for your armature.
Ithose are just my guesses of what it could be.

If the spacers and washers are not put in correctly that will happen, also in the event that the hole in the fan is oblonged or chewed up in any shape form or fashion, consider the fan done. If you order the fans, and are willing to ship the motor, I’d be willing to do the repair in my shop the day I get it and send it back to you the next day fully tested and working properly at no charge. All I ask is that you pay shipping both ways. Please shoot me an email if I can help in any way. My email is magvac1004@yahoo.com. 😊

I haven't seen your reply, until now, Mike. Thank you for the generous offer! I'll be in touch after payday this coming week.

In other news I've gotten even more machines in this is just crazy I made all that space storing some of my vacs and i've refilled all of the space I made.

I picked up this hoover convertible long story short. It was on marketplace. The seller wanted too much for it, i suggested ebay she told me if there were no takers by friday i could have it for X price. I messaged her and there's a buyer across the state so I assumed that's the end of it. The next day she messages me asking if I still want it. I have to wonder if there was another buyer at all or if she was simply attempting to get me to offer a higher amount. It almost reminded me of like Mary Kay sales reps but it's color is a bit more salmon like in person.

Here we have a Silver King 71B i've always wanted to try one of the older ones I'll need to track down a proper hose for it at some point but it seems to be about as powerful as the blue max 2000 which is odd. I don't yet have the proper poly polypropylene filters so i simply cut a bag to fit.

And while it's not here yet tomorrow I'm scheduled to pick up this Kirby D80.

I really do need to commit to moving to next spring I need a proper display area for all of these.
