In a previous thread, someone got curious about the post- World War II Westinghouses. I don't know a GREAT deal about them, but I know that a lot of them looked like this one. I've had this brochure for a million years and have finally fired up my old scanner. I'm starting to scan things I think the Club might want to see. Here goes (4 pages of the brochure):

John, these scans are gorgeous -- and not too large at all! That makes them beautiful and clear -- would love to find one of these machines! |

This Vacuum reminds me of the GE deluxe upright that was pictured in another post. |

And I wouldn't mind having a Westinghouse upright myself! Although the vacuums were made in Springfield, MA, there were many "Westinghouse Families" in Mansfield, OH, where I grew up, as there was a Westinghouse plant there that made most of their large appliances and some of the small kitchen appliances at one time as well. But by the mid-70's, the refrigerator line had been moved to a plant in Columbus and the small appliance lines had been sold to Hamilton-Beach/Scoville, and by the time I worked there in 1977, they were only making washers, dryers, and ranges. The Aunt that I got my Westinghouse cannister from also had one of these uprights at one time, but it was long gone many years ago. Jeff |
