Hoover did in fact have door-to-door sales from the beginning in 1908. However some facts have been misrepresented. Beginning In 1950 things begin to change in the area of sales. According to this 1983 Hoover news which was available to all employees the reasons are clear for the demise of the door to door sales program at the Hoover company. It was gradually phased out by 1960 mostly by the salesman themselves. In addition to the printed material, I have included two different interviews with Hoover sales people. Read on for more details. This information was all made possible through the efforts of the (late) Stacy Krammes. So, there it is, kids! |

that Electrolux managed to do it(home sales) long after Hoover dropped out. Aerus is still doing so to this day. Kevin |

it is. Some (Rainbow, for example), still do. During one of my mini meets, someone did a demo for Filter Queen. He doesn't visit anymore.
But, correct, Hoover does not do "door to door". We're luck they're doing anything at all right about now. This post was last edited 08/10/2020 at 10:04 |

I guess I'm the mystery someone who doesn't visit anymore?! LOL
Yes, that was actually quite an enjoyable FilterQueen demo. We ran a ton of vacuums that night. The Hoovers actually tore that FilterQueen apart. I was quite impressed with how well the Decade 800 and otherds did with the Hoover Dirt Meter on it. The Hoover Decade is a fantastic machine, I have a blue one in my collection now. It is due to be run, and it's time in the rotation will be coming up soon. I try not to have too many vacuums with dirt in the bags at one time. That one has a new bag but when it does run, the headlight really shines!! I left the Door to Door Sales arena. The "Ether" duping of my brain got to be too much. Panasonic vacuums were still on the market when I was still selling and I started to realize that people could buy themselves a Panasonic, Miele or Hoover WindtunnelMax or T Series bagged vac and have a clean home without a monthly payment. I now work in IT.
