In just a very few short weeks, I'll be making my annual trip to the holy Land. Not Jerusalem, but North Canton. to see Tom Anderson, his family, my friends, and to celebrate Hooover's birthday, where it all began. I spoke with Tom the other night. I'll be going there shortly, bringing my mask, etc.
Oh, the fun times we'll have, no doubt. I always bring fun baked things from the kitchen here. They enjoy them a lot. Finally, something nice and 'normal', after all of this pandemic, etc. |

Well, I wouldn't call it 'sneaking', wearing a HOOVER T shirt on the property in broad daylight. lololo I'm making kitchen goodies to take with me. We'll stop in at the museum, giving me a chance to look around the old place once again. I'll be able to look for the correct details of the HOOVER door to door sales. It seems misinformation keeps getting 'out there'. Sometimes, inaccurate facts become believed by he misinformed or simply ignorant.

is from the 1968 "Annual Report". featuring the entire, current HOOVER line. Amazingly, I have ALMOST everything posted, save a few things. Thanks, Sam Geresti, for sending me my own copy. I'll be able to see, read, etc probably all of the 'annual Reports' when I get there. I have every issue of Hoover News for a few decades. I might have a few duplicates..... possibly available at the Scranton VCCC convention.

to take to N Canton. I'll also be making banana nut bread, zucchini bread, Irish soda bread, and pepper cookies. It's nice to bring a few things from the kitchen there. Tom asked me if I'd make some 'iced tea'. Sure, why not?
I' bringing some other fun things with me. I'm also bringing some fun things home with me, namely, 2 Convertibles that belonged to our dear friend, Michael Turner. Getting things ready................ |

....much the same as the perivale 612? If so it was probably the easiest cleaner, in my opinion to strip and service next to the goblin 102 upright (circa 1968-75ish) There were so many 119s(us 115) and 612s sold in between 1949-57. Regards, Walter. |

We went to several thrift stores in Canton and Akron. We found mass quantities of bags, belts, etc. We found a Hoover Brush Vac, iron from the 40s, Hoover High School mouse pads, oh my! We found all of these "Kirbys". Two Kirbys could be had for less than $70 such a deal. We found an old Electrolux for $45 marked half price today. Tons of Dirt Devils have been discarded and ended up on the sales floor all over town. |

through my old stomping ground. I am back at my corner. We met a security guard and had a nice little chat. Being clad in Hoover shirts, he knew we meant no harm. One photo I am walking toward the "light" or in this case the smokestack. We walked the Hoover trail around Hoover High School. You will also see some new tenants in the newest parts of the old Main Plant. |

Treasures abound. I acquired tool sets, cushions, cups, tools, pens, bags, stationary, various appliances. Some of these I will share with my friends. I have now stocked up on genuine North Canton Hoover parts. I have also gotten several bricks from the company wall that have been appropriately engraved 'The Hoover Company 1908". Not to be hurled through a glass house, but kept as a cherished keepsake. |

She also said "Fiddle dee dee", but that's another day. We will spend time at the Hoover Historical Center, you know the museum on the grounds of Walsh University. It will be great to be there with Tom A. on the actual anniversary of the founding of the Hoover Suction Sweeper Company which became the Hoover Company. Do you concur? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Do you care? A show of hands. Hold them up nice and high now. So Eldin can jot them down on a Hoover pad and pencil.

I brought my orange Senior for Tom A. to use. It has an American motor and plug. We put it next to his other two seniors for fun. I was supposed to purchase these models from another collector, but the deal fell through sadly. Here is another photo of a group of machines from across the pond. |

Hoover artifacts, or , if it has been a long time since you have seen a real, stellar Hoover collection, I have taken the liberty of documenting the entire inventory. A lot has changed here since the V.C.C.C. was here in observance of Hoover's 100th birthday. Get a hanky ready, this might cause uncontrollable drooling. |

We thought it would be 'fun' to play a few games. Who remembers Mr. Potato Head? This is where you mix all of the parts to create something new. Here we made a new creation, assembled from existing parts.
Next we created a whole new Convertible assembled from different parts.
Kind of like mix (cleaners) and match (shirts). |

Do you see a 6 and a 9? You win! It's a 69!
Next do you see a 7 and an "O"? You win again! It's a model 70!
Some games are fun to play. Where others are not. |

Who doesn't like a little snack? How about a few Italian Pepper Cookies? Or perhaps some zucchini bread? Here they're served appropriately on a Hoover plate. Doesn't everyone have one? The cookie recipe was given to me years ago in the Rectory by the housekeeper. Although 100% Irish, I am told I make 'tasty Italian food'. Tom, Heather and Glenn were very grateful and appreciative of the creative treats from my ovens in Pittston. As you can see in the photos, everything came out fresh and moist, as always. |

Today marks the 112th anniversary of the Hoover company. What better way to spend it then at the Hoover historical Center. Also to honor the former VCCCC vice president Michael Turner, we brought one of his machines to use at the center today. We ran his model 69 all over the building today we hoped Michael would be proud. |

Edlyn and I talked for hours. Her father and grandfather worked for the Hoover company. She was a French teacher and a librarian. Here we are by the old-fashioned stove. The oven wasn’t running today.

I'm sure some members will enjoy them. Will Hemm, I thought of you when I saw some of them. A lot of attachments, too. When I saw the bricks that were removed from the MAIN building, and they were embossed, I thought it would be great to give some to people, maybe a dealer. I think it would be nice to have a "piece" of the buildnig where it all happened
It all depends on behavior, of course. Right? |
