Which vacuum models come with some of the oldest style attachments?
I know Hoover's Portapower uses the old style metal wands with plastic clips, and the attachments go back to the 90s, if not late 80s. Kenmore and Panasonic canisters were still using the mid 1980s style attachments with the ribbed collar up until Panasonic got out of vacuums. Cleva changed the attachments a bit when they took over production. I believe the older style ones are still in production though, as I was seeing them in new packaging up until Sears here closed, and on various websites online. I know one of the central vacuum companies (can't remember which) sold a set of attachments that looked very much like the Sears Kenmore/Whirlpool attachments used in the 70s and 80s, just with the Sears logo removed. I can't find them anywhere so they may have been discontinued. Electrolux's combo upholstery/dusting tool I know is still in use too. |

Upholstery nozzle. It's in the 2c manual and it's on Kirby avalir 2. It could be earlier than that. It's atleast since 1930 that means 90 years in production.

It's made of completely different material. It's been produced and had the same name since it's exception.
I'm betting this attachment can be traced back on every vacuum since there's been attachments for vacuums. Kirby's is different but still the same name. How about everyone's favorite attachment. I'm going to say the air powered turbo nozzle first seen on Sunbeams cannister and later made by Preco. Kirby made the heritage turbo brush and Turbocat is one of the newer versions of it. Some straight suction machines had a large utility nozzle for its vacuum head. Les |
