Hello all

I have a Miele S8590 "UniQ" vacuum cleaner and I have some questions about the accessory options.

First, it's originally equipped with an AirTeq floor/carpet head, model SBD 650-3 I think. It's making screeching sounds on floor so I think it's worn out and might start causing scratches at some point. So I'm looking for a replacement but that model is not available from the Miele web shop and I can't find it from other online shops either. I'm not sure about physical stores but I kind of doubt that. There are other models for sale but they seem to be more "basic" models. And of course there are plenty of generic accessories that might work with this vacuum.

This also applies to the main filter which in this model is a combined HEPA and active charcoal filter. I can find HEPA filters and active charcoal filters but not this combined type.

Now I wonder why the original filters and floor heads are not available. Does Miele consider them obsolete? This vacuum is less than 10 years old and since it was so expensive, I'd expect it to be "supported" for much longer. Or, has Miele never actually sold these premium accessory types separately?

My third question is about the last filter which is located in the exhaust grill, after the main filter. It's a black pad, made of a fiber of some sort. Recently, I had to overhaul another Miele model, green C3 series I think. Someone had vacuumed water with it and it was smelling horrible. I threw away the bag and all filters and let it dry for a couple of weeks, then installed new filters. But I couldn't find that final filter anywhere. It seems that it was not meant to be replaced. I think it's not even mentioned in the manual.

The vacuum works well without that filter and doesn't stink anymore, but does anyone know if that filter can be purchased as a spare part or not?

Thanks in advance.

I love my Miele C3 Marin. But is it possible to use the HEB 160 with it? I would really prefer using an electric tool than air driven one.

@joha

Unfortunately the SBD 650-3 nozzle was discontinued.
It was a great nozzle. Miele has consolidated a lot of their stuff.
The closest nozzle is the SBD 285-3 which doesn't have quite the range of motion or carpet cleaning ability. But you really wouldn't notice unless you put it side-by-side. Also hard floor cleaning ability is the same.

Miele has gone to a higher HEPA filter standard since your machine was made.
There for you can only get HEPA only filters or charcoal filters now.

The pre motor filter that sits behind the bag. Is only available with the vacuum bags for the most part. it can be ordered independently in a three-pack but most dealers will not have access to that old school part number.

I think that answers all of your questions if not feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your answers! Think Vacuums apparently sells that nozzle, but they seem to ship to the USA only if I'm right. And I live in Europe.

Perhaps I'll buy another type of nozzle. I found out that one local shop chain has that nozzle available in one of their shops but that's far away from me. They do not have it in their online store or anywhere near me.

@vacuumdevil
I did not mean the motor filter, I meant the black one that is located after the main exhaust filter. Here's a photo of it.

@joha That's supposed to be a sound diffuser. You don't need to do anything with that. However I have found on vacuums are stored in a particularly Dusty environment or something else happens to the vacuum,they do need to be either removed or washed.
You can look at some of my service videos where I just throw them away after talking to the customer. Non-essential part.

Ok, thanks, that's good to know. I discarded it from the C3 because I thought that it might stink too. And I didn't know that it's not sold as a spare part.
