Hello,
Thought I would give a quick run-down of Nilfisk models.

Nilfisk (formerly Tellus) were a popular brand back in Ireland for many years. They are Danish in origin, the brand is a combination of the surnames of the company's original founders, Nielsen and Fisker. In Ireland, their head office was originally located in Dublin city centre, relocating to Cookstown, Tallaght, Dublin and now operating from a nearby premises in Broomhill, Tallaght. The models I worked on back then from '87 to'89 were:

GA70: Canister vac, 350/500 watt, selectable by pneumatically controlled switch
GS80: Canister vac, 800 watt, fitted with overheat protection 'thermo valve'
GS806: Same as GS80, but stronger trolley/wheels and green rubber hose, for commercial / industrial use.
GS90: Same motor as GS80, but large capacity rectangular plastic body as opposed to slender cylindrical aluminium body. Very popular household vac, large filtration area and large capacity dust bag, but fragile canister clips.
GM80/90 - new 1000 watt motor released in 1989, fitted to the 80 and 90 models.
GV21 - a wet pickup model, using a motor loosely based on the GA/GS series, but built as a 'bypass' configuration, i.e. motor cooling air independent of the air pulled through the vacuum itself.

All the Nilfisk motors used 2 fans - the large fans ensured good airflow and suction, despite the apparently low motor powers of the early models. The GA/GS/GM motors used the same fan but the GV used a fan with the blades in the reverse direction.

Also worked on Nilfisk floor polishers, following models:
421A - slow speed scrubber, induction motor with centrifugal switch to switch in the start winding and capacitor, standard ball bearings for drive plate.
420B - high speed polisher, split phase capacitor start motor with centrifugal switch, but using better taper roller bearings for the drive plate.
C51 - Combined floor scrubber-dryer, interesting combo of the scrubber head of the 421A and the wet pick-up tank using a disguised GV21 motor for vacuum.

Looking forward to posting some more info re the individual models.
