Hello all, I need some help determining which vacuum to return.

I’m torn between my Dyson V10 absolute and my Roborock s5 robot vacuum. My home is about 70% carpet (medium pile), and I already have an upright that I love.

I’m looking for something that’s convenient, cleans thoroughly, but is quick or effortless to use. That’s how I stumbled upon the Dyson v10 cordless and the Roborock robot.

For the Dyson, I bought it because it’s more convenient than an upright but it has really good power. For the roborock robot, its the best navigator on the market, and it’s cheap. Although, its not a strong cleaner. Neatos and roombas outperform this robot when it comes to cleaning ability, BUT their navigation is, dare I say it, awful compared to this robot.

Although I like vacuuming, I dont have much time due to my job. The dyson can be used quickly but I might miss spots, whereas the robot does its own thing and covers everywhere. But like I said, its not the cleanest path.

Also, the roborock has a flaw in its brush design. The brush cover has two wire brush guards and two black strips on either side. But these are recessed in a way to create a “suction seal” as roborock advertises. On carpet, after a while, the robot will throw an error like once every 20 minutes saying its brush is stuck. This is because its motor is overcurrenting from all the carpet pressure.

But to those who say, “Dominic, why not try out a different robot vacuum, from, say, iRobot?” Because this roborock is cheaper, has the most amazing navigation, battery life, app, EVERYTHING ELSE, except that it errors out and doesn't have the best cleaning ability. I can elaborate mote, but I dont want to waste people’s time.

Dyson Pros:
-Better cleaning
-More versatile (can do stairs, upholstery, etc.)
-Better warranty (?)

Dyson Cons:
-Worried that the battery will fail
-Requires manual labor
-Not going to get everywhere like a robot would
-More expensive ($399)

Roborock Pros:
-Less expensive ($320)
-Gets everywhere I might miss (and I mean EVERYWHERE, this bot is the smartest robot I have ever seen, it doesn't miss a spot that it can fit into.)
-No manual labor

Roborock Cons:
-Literally just sweeping the carpet (In other words, not a good cleaner on carpet!)
-Shady, chinese company
-The brush motor errors out.

(Below are photos of the brush cover and how far the brush extends out, and no, that’s not my hand)

Based on your post, I’d return the RoboRock.

But you can get a Neato D3Pro for under $300 on Walmart.com. I have 2 (1 for each floor) to help combat cat hair and cat litter scatter. It helps through the week until I can use my Rainbow.
