Well, I was finally able to go down to the Vac Shop in Elizabethton! I had a wonderful time and Mr Martin was a great host. I also saw some very rare machines. I took some pictures of the oldies and the front room of the old shop, but totally forgot the rest. Here are the pics, enjoy!

What I picked up. Not shown: Kirby parts, a D50 for a trade, and two vacs for a friend(Trivac and Singer handheld). The two in the last photo are an Energex and a Brilliant, the latter I will make a thread about soon.

Kieran, Good that you could come down.Great pictures above but as I have tried to explain they do not show more than 5% of what is here!I'm sure there will be more to find as I continue sorting.Maybe you can all come for a weekend after the Sat night car show starts(Apr-Oct). Jimmy | ||

Schreeek! I would have loved to have that red Westinghouse on the shelf. Looks like some attachments for it there as well. Westinghouse is my most favorite....and the Kenmore version canisters as well. Thanks for the pictures! | ||

In second post fifth picture is that an old royal? Visiting wouldn't be a vacation it would be a dream come true. 24 hours each way roughly $2400 in gas. You do have sweet machines. I envy lucky souls who take the journey. Les | ||

$2,400 in gas for a 24 hour drive? You must have a terrible car Les, lol
$2 grand in gas would get you from the midwest to California and back a few times. Renting a truck would be very expensive to go that far - it would actually be very close to the same amount to find a cheap minivan off craigslist for $800-$900 that is as well kept as you can get for that price budget and set off on your journey (unless you have a vehicle big enough already or know someone that trusts you enough to take their van that far lol) But either way just driving out somewhere is a very expensive ordeal just to pick up old vacuums, and with a lot of states being in lockdown right now for the coronavirus, its not so feesable. A lot of hotels are shut down for 2 weeks. | ||

Here is my math in my head.
I worked with someone who drove to Tennessee and it was 24 hours. If you average 60 miles per hour that's about 2 gallons of gas meaning $5 an hour for gas. My math was off. $5/hr x 24 hours x 2 is $240 I added an extra zero my bad. I guess if I was driving a vehicle that was size of a jumbo jet. Nice catch. I was I thinking. Ideal situation is 3 people rent SUV. Drive straight to Tennessee. Spend 2 days there. Eat ribs for every meal. Load up the SUV and bring a small trailer and get a horde of vacuums. He has machines I've never seen before or knew existed. Ribs and vacuums it would be sweet. We could open a small museum of our own. It's Friday it's been crazy. We had that earthquake in Wednesday and it shook us pretty good being 40 miles from the center of it. It cracked a water main and a little crack in the foundation. It's a 4 story dorm L shaped. It houses 400 in the building. The tunnel underneath connects to all the forms. It's 2 complete buildings. It's BYU and the water line is 16" and is hot water for entire BYU campus. The Mormons own Utah and BYU is there mecca. The waterline was fixed quickly. Ya I'm rambling. Les | ||
