I have this vacuum that I purchased brand new several years ago. The cable, where it left the handle, was always a bit dodgy and I had to hold it a certain way otherwise the vacuum wouldn't work. One day, in a temper, I cut off the cable (see photos) and wired a cable directly to the motor under the cover. The only way I was able to turn it on/off was to plug/unplug it. Whilst this repair wasn't ideal, it worked for me and at least the vacuum kept running as long as it was plugged in. I barely ever used this vacuum, and haven't done for a few years. It is in very good condition (other than the cable issue). I'm on the brink of taking it to the tip but this does seem a shame as I know that this model with a 240V motor is rare. Is there anyone that would like to give it a good home and perhaps even repair the cable as it's supposed to be. Recipient would have to arrange courier (U.K.) and cover costs and the best I could do would be to wrap it in a bin bag or something!
