Hi Y'all,

I'm new here but have been a member of AW for some years.

I have a Hoover Constellation that I picked up at an estate sale about a year ago. It came with several packages of old bags. Do the bags have a shelf life? Should I use or toss?

I also need advice on cleaning it up and whatever service needs to be done before using it.

What kind of advice do you have for this particular machine? I will post pictures after the holiday.

Thanks,
Sarah

I've never heard of vacuum cleaner bags having a shelf life. As long as they're not damaged or visibly deteriorated, they should be fine.

yes, as long as the paper is still good, not shredded, staples punctured , etc. ... they should still be perfect.

Cleaning is usually just a matter of soap and water. Service might include lubrication, but not if it has sealed ball bearings. I'm not sure what kind of bearings it uses.
