This fell out when I took off the motor housing from an Omeaga Kirby. What is it???

That part you have, that is the motor vent seal board.

What is it’s function? Is it important? The vac (Omega) seems to run fine without it. Although, I can see some sparks when looking in while it’s running...that will be my next post. Jeff

If your motor is arcing, you might want to inspect your carbon brushes, field and/or armature.

Jeff,

I forgot to point out that the motor vent seal and board were designed to deflect heat inside the motor. If the foam is worn out or full of dust, the motor will heat up, as in being hot to the touch.
