My Window Fan

I've had this window fan I bought off Amazon. I can't remember when but it was a LONG time ago. I've had NO issues with it at all. We keep our AC in 70F in the summer (colder than most people) but in contrast, we keep our heat on like 65F in the winter. During the fall or winter when heat or AC isn't needed, it will still get stuffy in my house on sunny days. I think it's because of the attic heat. This morning it was 37F and it got down to 65 in my house this morning. I sleep so much better on nights like that. By the time it was 4pm, the temp in the house had already risen to 71, so I pop open the window, turn my window fan on exhaust, open a window screen door on the other side of the house and it creates this awesome cross breeze throughout the house.

Now it's like 7pm, I had my window fan on the past 2 hours and it feels great in this house, although my thermometer reads 70 still in the house. It took away that stuffy feeling. Then, suddenly, I started to smell smoke. Someone in the neighborhood has started a fire in their fireplace! This happens all the time. I mean, I'm still totally fine with the temperature and yet somebody already needs a freaking fire? I had to shut the fan off and close all the windows. Exact same thing happened last night. Growing up, my grandma absolutely tortured us she kept it so warm in the house.
Anyway - here is the fan I've got. It stays in the window all year. You can shut the window with the fan installed. If it ever dies, I'm buying another one.

Checkrate/Likes Had one very similar 37 years ago to ventilate the garage space. Ward's I think then.

Checkrate/Likes I had the same problem when I had a window fan in my window in 2012. I would stay up most nights through the morning and when the school bus would stop outside my house and idle for a bit, I'd get gassed out by bus exhaust. lol I just left the room for a bit until the diesel smell dissipated.

Checkrate/Likes *I've got a 60 yr. old window fan* or breeze box. Where I used to live I put it in the opening to the attic, laying it down facing up. Made a great exhaust fan taking a lot of hot air up and out of the attic. If you keep them oiled they will last as long as you want. The huge metal fan looks like it came of a big boat. I watch how long it takes for the fan to coast to a stop when I switch it off. When it's oiled up it takes about 30 seconds for it to stop. If it stops in 15-20 seconds, it's time for a drop or two! If you familiarize your self with that one thing, the coast down, how long it takes to stop and check that about once a month and oil when it stops faster than before, you're good to go.
