Hi Ben,
There is an aerosol Switch-Cleaner you can buy. Magic stuff. Works on On/Off Switches, Volume Controls.. Just squirt it into the switch, operate the switch a few times, and you're good to go. It flows, cleans, evaporates. No taking apart required. If it's become a 'lazy switch', the elasticity (or springiness) has gone. Disassemble it, clean it up with Brasso, and stretch the spring gently or bend the spring-plate to restore its full movement. There's not a lot going-on in a Rocker Switch. It's only two wires, two plates, and sometimes a spring. That's it. If you choose to, or need to, replace it but can't find your particular colour, you can keep your original plastic Rocker & Surround and just replace the internal contacts and spring. | ||

The bottom rocker may have broken one of it’s posts and fallen into the housing. Takeoff the top trim piece (three screws) It’s really easy to access the switch. I can take a better picture of one of mine when I get home from work. That switch is not a common switch. It’s more mechanical than anything else it. I don’t think a contact cleaner is going to solve the problem.

Electrolux Model G switch Kloveland, thank you! I see the circle around the Model G, the switch I'm talking about is the power switch on the top toward the rear behind the handle. all the best, Ben | ||

1. Remove the three screws.
2. Remove the switch cover. 3. Make sure posts on either side of the lower rocker are in place. Switch should move freely. The rod below to activate the switch from the bag compartment should be in the lower rocker. I have a nicer G. The one pictured is my G I used often. | ||

Electrolux Model G switch Update: Got the switch out, and was cleaning it and realized that a piece of the phenolic that help the little roller part of the switch go back and forth has broken. This switch is done. So, anyone have a lead on a power switch? Thank you all, Ben | ||

Try getting in touch with rugsucker here on the forums. He has a shop he is shutting down in Elizabethton and he might have a spare switch or a junky model G that you can harvest a switch from.
