Hello I just bought my first vintage vacuum cleaner. The cleaner I just bought is a Hoover Comercial 913. The vacuum works perfectly fine but the cord and the bag are not original. I would really like to know what year the vacuum was made the serial number is EE261934. The vacuum was made in England. I would also like to convert the vacuum to using bottom fill hoover c bags but how would I go about that?

I have an all original 913. I have 2 guesses on 1955 or 1961. Mine was made in UK which is prior to 1963.
The vacuum takes type c bags originally. Pics could help a little.

Your 913 would date from at least 1961 going by where the motor unit assembly was built (at Hoover's UK operations, which were then in Perivale, England) and would have been built around no later than 1972, when it was superseded by the nearly similar 918. The final incarnation of this iron giant was model U7037, which was sold from 1978 to 1983.

The 913 descended in 1949 from the WWII-era model 90 and the early postwar model 91.

Hi...I am in the UK and am keen to know if anyone based here has a U913 for sale ?

I am willing to pay a reasonable price, and the cleaner doesnt have to have been refurbished, as long as it works.

Thanks

Derek,

In your case... you would have the model 912 version that is native to your country.

Debuted in the UK in 1950, basically a commercial version of the Hoover 612 (US 61) which came out a short time earlier.

@kirbyclassiciii what do you mean by the 913 descended in 1949?
Thanks

Damien,

Sorry... the 913 came out in 1961. According to this chart submitted by Marty Kaplan, the model 91 (which replaced the model 90 in 1946) was still in production and sale in the 1950s.

The 913 did replace the 91 and was in many regards similar to it.
