So I rescued a Ambassador III with a cord rewinder problem. 75th anniversary. I took it apart, couldn't stand the fact that I could see stuff stuck in the impeller, and disassembled the whole thing and stupid me, didn't mark the wires. I took apart the cord rewinder and got it going, but after reassembly, it didn't turn on. I took it back apart and changed the wires to what vague diagrams I could find online and when you turn it on it just trips the breaker for the outlet. So I am not sure if the cord rewinder is at fault or I got something out of whack. It did run before I messed with it.....:(

does anyone have a diagram...I cannot find anything that shows the way one is wired that doesn't have indicator lights. I took apart my 2100 and Holy crap....a lot more wires.

Here is my revised 2100 wiring diagram with the indicator lights.
The one without the lights would be similar, just simpler
I own both models, and actually rewired the model I have with no lights.

It sounds like you created a dead short with the vacuum. I did that by accident one time when I put a new cord on a fluorescent light fixture and I had the wrong wires on the wrong terminals. Definitely just a wiring issue when you connected the wires back up. It will be back in action once you get the wires back where they were.

Thank you very much....Your diagrams saved me!!! Its working great now. I had the two black wires and the white one in the wrong spot. What power nozzle does your ambassador have?

Yeah, I love the fact that the wires themselves aren't color coded.
