I don’t know who the seller is, nor how much this thing will end up selling for, but there is a NIB Whirlpool Bambi vacuum for sale on eBay. Now, the main reason I bring this up here is because the seller apparently has done some research, or at least has heard of Tom Gasko’s museum, because they specifically mention the Vacuum Cleaner Museum in St. James, MO!

The Vacuum Cleaner Museum has a beautiful example already. I'm just watching to see how high it goes before selling mine. "Say Cheese" gurls!

I was thinking about bidding on it because of my fondness since childhood of the Whirlpool brand. They made solid contenders in the appliance marketplace for many decades...
but I have to admit, this machine is just plain "fugly".
Yes, the one for sale is pristine, but what the heck design team even breathed on the appeal of this shoebox?
Also, bags would be impossible to get in the future, so unless one want's to hand make them, the two original bags it comes with would limit it's use to maybe once annually if it were to have any longevity of functionality at all.

Someone should take apart an original bag and make a template of it out of sheetmetal (sell the templates?) and then use that so people can make their own bags out of other hepa fleece bags to cut apart (those big henry bags?). Just make instructions on how to fold and glue them together to assemble the bag and then presto, homemade reproduction bags.

I would have liked to have it, but wasn't spending that much. |
