I don’t know who the seller is, nor how much this thing will end up selling for, but there is a NIB Whirlpool Bambi vacuum for sale on eBay. Now, the main reason I bring this up here is because the seller apparently has done some research, or at least has heard of Tom Gasko’s museum, because they specifically mention the Vacuum Cleaner Museum in St. James, MO!

The Vacuum Cleaner Museum has a beautiful example already. I'm just watching to see how high it goes before selling mine. "Say Cheese" gurls!

I was thinking about bidding on it because of my fondness since childhood of the Whirlpool brand.  They made solid contenders in the appliance marketplace for many decades...

but I have to admit, this machine is just plain "fugly".

Yes, the one for sale is pristine, but what the heck design team even breathed on the appeal of this shoebox?

Also, bags would be impossible to get in the future, so unless one want's to hand make them, the two original bags it comes with would limit it's use to maybe once annually if it were to have any longevity of functionality at all.

This must be the oldest New In Box vacuum cleaner I have ever seen listed on eBay. It must be from the 1950’s, no?

I wonder if the motor still works, though.

Hope it goes to a good, appreciative collector!

Someone should take apart an original bag and make a template of it out of sheetmetal (sell the templates?) and then use that so people can make their own bags out of other hepa fleece bags to cut apart (those big henry bags?). Just make instructions on how to fold and glue them together to assemble the bag and then presto, homemade reproduction bags.

I have the original model of the Bambi, the same one Tom has in the museum that was given to me as a gift by fellow collector Billy Lipman. I have a special place for Whirlpool vacuums because after I closed my vacuum business after being there 30 years am now working for a Whirlpool major appliance company. To be honest I did put a bid on this beautiful machine, but lost out on the auction by almost $100.00. I would normally never bid that high on any vintage vacuum, but this one looked interesting. I hope a member on here did win the auction.

I watched it for a while, but there at the end it started climbing too high for my wallet! Oh well, I hope whomever the new owner is, that they enjoy it, and hopefully preserve it!
