that's got to be a shill/fake bid.... this was at $91 w/4 mins left, then shot to 888 and $898 won it. Its not rebuilt or even have the proper Sani-emptor. wow. The reason it's not original it's rebuild was in 1961. It in short is a like a 505 cord is 509-512 cord. It's not original but put on by Kirby. I can imagine 25-30 years after it was made. Don't forget the war metal was a precious commodity.if you think government would let Kirby have a ton of metal sitting around not likely. The 505 after the war started. The reason it looks exactly like a 505 but 505 emtor is reson stated.
It's basically a good 505 with almost as close to original plug as your going to get. I have a book from blakeman appliance out of California. The replacement bags were sanatronic and the black wheels weren't an option. They were authorized dealer and distributor of every vacuum brand. I'll try to find pics but blakeman I'm guessing was the biggest dealer distributor of vacuum parts at the time. Kent oyler or Kirby needs on eBay had it for sale he had it for years. He was 1 of 4 brothers his other 3 were Kirby dealers. He can't recollect older items. I have gotten a 505 emtor and emtor bottom from him. I have got 2 or 3 original 505-512 handles from him too. So the reason the 3c looks like a 505 with Bojack bag is being parts for 3c 4c 505 after the war used same replacement parts. But that much money for a 505 basically with no bag is funny. I have numerous vacuums 505-512 I could throw together a few vacuums like that except the plugs I only have 1 505 plug and only 1 505 handle. Those are reasons it doesn't have solid metal emtor with sani emtor on side next to latch. It makes the crossover you have in perspective. Les | ||

Theres' no Sani-emptor....so are you insinuating that Kirby didn't have Sani-emptors during the run of 3C's? If rebuilt in '61, I would have thought they would have put it back on (thus rebuilt). I didn't point out or notice the cord, so no problem there with me.
I meant to write , crazy money and not even polished and perfected for that kind of money. very cool about that book you mention, cool in that it illustrates part of the history and rebuilding. | ||

Here is what a 3C (these photos aren't mine; they were taken from an ages-old eBay auction) might have looked like with all original replacement parts when factory rebuilt by Kirby back in '61. And about the original shake out bag setup being replaced: the owner of it probably replaced that with the F/G conversion bag kit sometime in the later '60s or early '70s. It is likely that during the 1961 rebuild, the original Sani Emtor with its metal bottom was retained, and probably had the same gray Kirby bag used on models 518 to 561, as in the pictures attached. ~Ben This post was last edited 01/06/2019 at 22:45 | ||

I didn't realize he bojacked the emtor
This is picture of your emtor. I'm saying the emtor like yours in 1961 Kirby didn't have. So if it had an emtor Pic 1 your emtor used through 4 c Pic 2 my original 505 emtor. Notice it's just like c models but black plastic has same nipple petrusion Pic 3 later 505 emtors Pic 4 my original 509 emtor. The last of no sweet Aire emtors 2 prong. Ben is close but I can almost guarantee that emtor on rebuilt machine was saved from prior machine. The reason being the nipple on 505 aren't on all 505 just early models. I thought he had an emtor my bad. I was thinking he had a black emtor.. I'm getting emtors like yours safe guess weren't available 1947 1948. If it was emtors on 505 508 509 would all have the nipple. So since it's built in 1961 the black emtor no nipple is what you would have got. The reason being they ran out of them and started flat bottom emtors. The cord on Ben's pic is a 505 or earlier cord. The seller of this model has a 509-512 cord. It's like you send a 505 to get rebuilt your getting 4 amp motor amodel fan and tan everything except black cord. I have my book I'll have to post pics of it. I'll post a couple I took to try to find parts for my royals. Well there is Kirby in the pics so you can get an idea of 1963 availability. | ||

 I sent my Kirby 505 into Kirby for a rebuild, but was told it would come back in tan trim. They also put a belt lifter on instead of the cap...I kept the original bag......before I sent it in.

I noticed it. I also noticed if you bid on last day it generally doesn't go as high. There is nothing special about the vacuum.
I bid on one of the Scott and fetzer or 2c that sold a month ago. It had bids before last day I believe it sold for $1800. So if people would have bid earlier I think the vacuum would have sold for more. I don't bid until the end. I seen it sold for that much. Idk it has 3c on it but I'd prefer a original 505 like I have. Or the model crossover you have. I would want all original vacuum. This wasn't a vacuum I would buy. Les | ||

This is a common ploy that a lot of idiots do on eBay. They will place a stupidly high bid to win the auction, and then they won't pay for it. They do it just as their idea of fun, a game to play.
It looks like v***n placed a bid for $49.95, and then it sat at that price for over a week until v***n increased his bid to $75.00 an hour before the auction ended. Then a***e came in with his bid sniper robot and placed a bid $1.00 over v***n's bid. v***n really wanted it, so he bid again at $91.00 getting desperate to have it. a***e's bid sniper robot continued the automated process and placed a bid $1.00 over again. Then some idiot named 2***d came in and placed a $888.00 troll bid. a***e's bid sniper robot continued the automated process and placed a bid $1.00 over again. 100% guarantee that a***e and 2***d will not pay for this item and the purchase should go to v***n. When you see this happen all you have to do is eMail the seller and tell them they are a victim of shill bidding and bid sniper robots, and to delete that bidder's bids and block their account. If the auction has already ended, they should just sell it to the next highest bidder and disregard the shill bid because it won't get paid for anyway. The seller doesn't have a choice as they won't get the money either way and it will have to be relisted again. You should see this vacuum relisted soon once the seller finds out the bidders are fraudulent. | ||

It had a starting bid of 49.99 but nobody bid I checked 26 hours before and no bids seen price the next day.
I hope he sells it. You think eBay who invited online bidding would have a superior fraud protection but it and PayPal suck so bad Amazon is killing it. There is no other site that can dethrone eBay with a better mouse trap. Amazon is good but for individuals trying to sale used or vintage goods Amazon doesn't work for them. Amazon cuts profit margin so low you couldn't survive. Until a better ran site comes were stuck with PayPal fees horrible I would not even call it that they don't even attempt to help. If a investor like Robert herjavec or Mark Cuban with internet security meets open market selling it could be done. Les | ||
