I received this new vacuum cleaner for Christmas! This is my first "lift-off" style 2-in-1 vacuum. What do you think?

I love the color scheme. I especially love the green brush roll. It looks like it is good build quality. It looks to have minimal places it could loose air seal. You have vacuum with no dust bin on wonder if you can use it like that. The lift away is nice with good attachments. The light on the hose is a nice touch. It looks like a great machine. Hope you enjoy it.

Well way to ruin his Christmas. It looks better made than most plastic vacs.
I was at di a week ago. There was a vacuum that looked exactly like a riccar 8950. It was yellow I don't remember I think it said commercial and or HEPA on it. The only problem was the belt was broke. Have you heard or seen a yellow rebrand. The motor was 10 amp. Les | ||

There's nothing wrong with stating your own opinions on threads. Plus, this was not the same model that I've previously owned before. The one I had was a 1650A, it wasn't mentioned on my previous post.
The vacuum you mentioned was a Carpet Pro, that's Tacony's cheaper brand of Simplicity and Riccar. Anyways Nick, congrats on your present. Takes me back on when I used to get vacuums on Christmas. Hope you like it. | ||

I like it. It's very...umm...green. I am excited that vacuum companies are being more BOLD with their color designs now, we're seeing more unique color combos. Vacuums are beginning to have character and style again and not just being a black or gray appliance.
I have the hand-held pet hair eraser, it's a very good vacuum. | ||

You're right, there's nothing wrong with stating your opinion. But, stating a negative opinion on someone's Christmas present right on Christmas Day isn't exactly a nice thing to do. You should have AT LEAST waited until AFTER Christmas before posting & stating your opinion if you felt badly about the vacuum.

Out of 63 tested uprights, most Bissell models are at the bottom of the current rankings in Consumer Reports.
However this Bissell 2087 upright is a very unique exception in Bissell’s current line-up: it is a Recommended model with scores of Excellent, Very Good and Good in all categories. Out of 63 uprights, it is currently standing in 12th position not far away from some Dysons, Sharks and Hoovers. Let’s give credit where credit is due: Bissell finally is offering a decent, moderately-priced bagless upright. But it’s important to remember that the good test results are only for Model 2087. The other models gave much poorer test results. | ||

I just took the vacuum for a spin around the house, and my first impressions are both good and bad.
The good: 1. It's not very loud! The vacuum motor is quiet, but the brush motor is loud and shrill, like most dual-motor vacuums. The turbo brush is the loudest part of the machine. 2. It has really good suction, and thus does a great job cleaning carpets and hard floors. 3. Filtration is excellent. I have not seen or smelled dust coming out of the vacuum. The vacuum came with an optional Febreze post-motor filter that traps odors, but I haven't tried it yet. 4. The Lift-Off canister is handy for above floor cleaning. There's a telescopic wand that has a good amount of reach; plus it has a nice handle. This part of the vacuum would be great for cleaning the car. 5. Nicely designed attachments. The crevice tool has an LED to make it easier to see dark corners. That's a nice touch. 6. Has a great turbo brush, called the "Pet TurboEraser." It powers through pet hair like magic! 7. Twin LED headlights! 8. Nice, long 30-foot power cord. 9. The "tangle-free brush roll" works exactly as claimed. I have not had to cut any hair or string off of it. 10. The dirt container has a "cyclonic pet hair spooling system" that wraps pet hair around some spikes at the bottom of the container. That way, when it's emptied, there's no need to pull out the dirt by hand; it all falls right out. The bad: 1. Although the hose is very stretchy, it's very short. Using the turbo brush causes the hose to become very rigid. But the Lift-Off canister makes up for it when cleaning something up high, such as ceilings. 2. The Lift-Off canister is not stable. I use both hands when using the turbo brush to clean the stairs, and combined with the short hose, the canister flops all over the place, so cleaning stairs becomes a juggling act. 3. The telescopic wand does not stay locked. Even after tightening the locking collar, it doesn't stay put and constantly slides back and forth while cleaning. That makes it very frustrating to use, especially on stairs. 4. The turbo brush is pathetic for upholstery. It stops almost instantly upon touching it to a surface, so you'll need to use quick, reverse strokes when cleaning upholstery. However, it works great on stairs. 5. The dirt container is tiny! It looked large after unboxing the vacuum, but it doesn't hold a lot of dirt. I'm expecting to empty it fairly often. 6. Even though Bissell claims the vacuum is cyclonic, it doesn't have true cyclonic technology, so the foam pre-motor filter gets dirty quickly. I have a feeling it needs to be washed every few uses. Despite the negatives, this is a very powerful vacuum that's perfect for pet owners. Below is a pic of the headlights.

A thoughtful gift. It’s good to know that it performs well.
I’ve been eyeing Bissell’s latest Pet Hair Eraser vacuums for a while now. As I’m sure you know, they make a couple other very similar models. My personal favorite would be the multicyclonic variant, even though it doesn’t have the handy lift-off feature, because I love cyclonic vacuums. Vacuum Wars on YouTube made the same observation you did. Apparently that brush roll really does stay hair free. No one here should underestimate the value of this characteristic; some vacuums make a true mess of themselves when faced with long hair, and in extreme cases, even have the potential to damage themselves. I’ll admit, my cherished Dysons do not handle hair well. Thanks for sharing. | ||
