Not Sure Where You're Getting That From

Walmart has done no such thing. They're still very much Walmart, with the logo as part of the sign. They DID drop the word "Stores" from the name, last February.

Wal-Mart was always hyphenated, and the star acted as a hyphen. Last year they removed the hyphen and just changed their name to "Walmart", the logo changed to reflect the star being put at the beginning.

If you mean their redesigned website, that's just to make it easier to use on smartphones, to just have the star there rather than having an entire logo taking up half the screen.

What's fun is looking at their old homepage from 2001 in the Wayback Machine: web.archive.org/web/200011171402...

I remember the hyphen being removed too.

You must still have a name. How would one write a check, etc?

It was strange for us...we had an "older" Walmart near us. I remember it becoming a "Super Wal-Mart" adding the pharmacy and expanding the store.
New stores popped up around us with the new style Sign, but ours stayed the same. If I remember right, they changed it last year.

I remember when they changed from WAL*MART on the sign (with the star) to having Walmart with the new yellow star (they call it a spark). It was in like 2008 when they changed to the spark and lower case logo.

Everyone can call it what they want, but to me it will always be a sphincter. They should have just kept the star. Nothing against Walmart itself (which I do like a lot) but the creation of a corporate logo should be given a bit more thought...
Of course Walmart isn't the only one to do this. Windows 10 have replaced the popular hourglass with a twirling version of the sphincter. Numerous websites followed afterwards.....

@fan-of-fans you're correct that Wal*Mart changed to Walmart* back in 2008

in late november 2017 Walmart changed to * just like Prince changed his name to a symbol

* is the store/retail chain formerly known as Walmart

even store employees have 2 cover the walmart name

I've worked for Wal-Mart for nearly 5 years now. The logo is the same as it was after the 2008 change. The store I work in just finished a major top-to-bottom remodel (nearly $7 million), and we got new outdoor signage, same logo as before. The vest I wear every day to work still says Walmart on one side of the chest & my name badge still has Walmart with the little "spark" logo next to it written on it.

As others said, when the new Walmart.com site design launched, they chose to use the "spark" as the icon to declutter the home page and put the focus on the merchandise being offered for sale.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but you're sadly mistaken.

Not sure why you're not getting this, unless you're

Walmart has NOT dropped its name. Here's the company press release from last December:

OK, so obviously...

... you're a troll.

This simply did not happen. Do you have any clue how big that would be in the national -- and international -- media if that were the case?

Sorry, but unless you can produce documentation from WALMART in the form of a public announcement, press release or media coverage of your claim, I'm just not buying it.
