Once again, a company's sophisticated technology is derailed by their own marketing department. I don't know why adverts get released without triple checks - by the engineers involved!

Witness the exploded diagrams of the LG A9.

Notice that they seem to have a great difficulty in explaining where the first-stage cyclone is (it should be the 'clear bin' itself, before the metal shroud screen).

It would appear - based on this exploded diagram in this video - that airflow from the first-stage cyclone is filtered by the screen, then enters the second stage 'axially' (the slight gaps at the top of the silver vortex finder manifold). Tilted, fixed vanes then cause the incoming airflow to spiral. This way, they dispense with tangential and scroll type pipework, which saves weight.

The downside, perhaps, might be that fluffy fine dust might get caught by these vanes, eventually causing blockages, or disrupted airflow.
