So I was looking around eBay during lunch break and I happen to come across apparently a rare Eureka Whirlwind vacuum from around maybe the late 90’s or most likely early 2000’s. I’ve never seen a Eureka Whirlwind like this before at all in fact I didn’t know they made one like this before at all! I only seen this as a bagged Electrolux Apitude, a video of a 2001 Kenmore Cyclonic commercial on YouTube, and some pics of a Electrolux cyclonic upright from the UK. Has anybody seen this before? What stores did they sell this Eureka vacuum at back then? I find this very amazing! And when I saw this on eBay I was like 😮. And the crazy thing is that this cost $200 on eBay.

Electrolux Power System

We knew it as the Electrolux Power System.

Roger 'ibaisaic' has videos of the bagged variant. I had the top model which came with both the cyclonic cassette and the bag door.

Here's the German version of the tv advert:

I remember them but they were not real common. I don't know where they were Sold. Wasn't there a bagged version too?

I thought that disassembled parts photo looked familiar. This vacuum is owned and being sold by a Vacuumland member, chicagomike.

I took a closer look at the sticker and it was made in Britain. It also says the Eureka Company.

Sweden’s Electrolux made a bagged version of this vacuum in the UK and sold it there under the Electrolux brandname. At the time, they also owned Eureka and sold it in North America as the Eureka Oxygen - see below.

When the company bought back the rights to use their own brandname again in North America, we saw a red bagged version of this cleaner in stores - it was called the Electrolux Aptitude.

What’s also pretty rare about the unit shown in the first post is the “1200 W” label on the hood. Most uprights in the last two decades advertised their power in amps in North America...with 12 amps being the maximum allowed. Europe always labelled the power of their vacs by wattage, like this rare Eureka. Therefore this vac is 10 amps (1200w divided by 120volts).

I was fortunate to find one at a vacuum cleaner store about two months ago for a low price. Brand new in the box, from around 1998. I opened up the box to see that everything is there but it has not left the box, nor has it been out of the packaging.

That RARE Eureka Whirlwind upright was sold in Vacuum Shops around 1998. It was offered (to my knowledge) only to Eureka dealers. It was called "The Fantom Killer" since the only bagless vacuums at that time were Fantoms (yes, I know about the Scamway but it doesn't count).

ChicagoMike's machine is in gorgeous shape, I believe he also has a package of the original, genuine filters as well. That machine has a ton of airflow, and cleans very well.

There was also a Kenmore version

Called the “Cyclonic Cleaning System.” It had a few extra features: a headlight, height adjustment, and motor speed control. Sold very briefly around 2001-2002.
