I recently landed a SuperVac 180 that is in great (looking) shape, but after some use the roller is close to locking up.

Is there any place to get a new roller or has anyone had any luck lubing or rebuilding an under-performing roller? From previous posts, I'm guessing I'm out of luck, but wondering if I could get something to work.

Also, if i can get it to work, i'd love to get a light bulb. I'm assuming that is generic.

thanks

if the bristle length is good, keep it and service it. your bearings are likely crapped up with hair binding them. cut the hair with a knife and oil the sleeve bearings. kirby hasnt made new brushrolls for those in 15 years. ive gotten ONE new one from a vacuum shop and 3 used ones. they arent easy to find.

Ask a007kirbyguy@aol.com. I believe I spelled it right. He mentioned to me he sees them on eBay quite often. Cwp is a Scott and fetzer company. I believe they would be the sellers of it.
The light if it's bayonet type similar to 505 to 1 cr is a Sylvania 1650. If it's base is only one post on bottom is 109273s.

Is led version for newer machines.
XYTGD BA15D LED Bulb,6W 120V Dimmable, Warm White 3000K, T3/T4/C7/S6 LED Halogen Replacement Bulb for Chandelier Crystal Ceiling Lamp Light (Pack of 5) www.amazon.com/dp/B073S47...
This is led for older vacuums. The bulb is a little longer but it's alot cheaper than most. They usually run,ten a bulb.
Call or get a hold of bill. If not him call Kirby directly you should be able to find it.
What size motor does that beast have.

cwp does NOT make the 18" brushrolls for these. a collector approached them at the tour in 2014 and said if they got a minium order of 250 they would make them. there are not enough collectors of these commercial kirbys to justify that cost. bill edstrom does have nos or used brushrolls for these, but he charges more since they are NLA. i believe he charges 45 each. it may be less.

these machines have unique wide brushrolls that are vonly for these machines.. the janitronic, american lincoln super sweep and supervac 180.

Hey

Your correct on cwp.  I tried finding it and no luck.  Kirby may have some but I talked to Bill and remembered he said something about it.  I doubt Kirby sales them but bill has lots of Vacuum items.  Price isn't that bad.  If you buy a new royal brush they start at $50 and simplicity metal are close to $69.  So $40 bucks and change isn't that baf.

Any chance you would pull that roller out and get a pic or two of what you're dealing with?

It may save, or bring you, a thousand words ~

Cool vac, btw

Andy,

The light bulb for this machine would be part no. 1650.

The 18" brush roll, though, will be a tougher find like what Will and the others here have pointed out. If the bearings on your brush roll aren't terribly worn down, you could have Don O'Connor (of O'Connor's Sales and Service of Youngstown, OH) re-bristle it for you.
