About a week ago I picked up a Royal 501 from a mini mall for $6. It was in bad cosmetic shape. The marker price tag was almost worn off, it had specks of rust, and was absolutely covered in dirt. It also needed oiling BADLY and the paper bag had exploded, so I got it. I got it home, cleaned it up, and did some research, It turns out that is a 1978-82 Royal Prince. It does not have the sticker in the front, the motor is the older style, it has the blue pattern bag, and it has the exposed oiling port on the handle that was dropped around 1983. It works okay now without a paper bag and some light oiling, but it is still not perfect. I will post pics tomorrow.
