Hi, One wanted to share a recent gift of a machine had, had, and hoped someday to re-obtain. Received a phone call from a long time collector, and friend a few weeks back. "Hey! I have something here, that I think you'd want! Are you Interested??". Uh... YES PLEASE!!
So without a lot of yakking, which one is known to do.... Here is what we were discussing. Montgomery Wards Finest. From 1982. So very happy to have one again. Won't be letting go of this one. Chad |

Love those Eureka Empress II “FastVacs” with the “radio button” suction control!
Just a small, niggly, unimportant and yet friendly recommendation: turn the dusting brush to face forward (all other tools can face to the back) - all Eureka literature and ads show it that way.. :-) Enjoy your new toy! |

I won't part with my '79-or'80 brandywine model 1279, or 1290 canned ham either. I thought the canned hams were discontinued before the belt view power heads came out though. Maybe they kept them in production for Wards longer. |

Mike-
Thankfully I have most of the catalogs from Wards from 1968, then 1972 thru 1984-5 when the catalog went bye bye. The last time this machine was available was Fall and Winter 1982. In Spring Summer 1983, they went to the Ironsides (B Bag) machines, with the TOL Electronic in that funky burnt pumpkin orange called SPICE!! Wards was HUGE for Eureka, so I'm sure that they allowed them use of whatever (designs/parts) they wanted, for as long as it remained smart to do so. In terms of keep-ability, this is my ONLY canned ham Eureka left from this vintage. I sold my first one years back in a moment of desperation. This being a gift, I can't DO that really, as it goes against a unwritten code I've heard of between collectors. SO this one will stay with me forever. If I want to rid of it, need to offer it back to the person who had it first. If no interest in take-back, then well... It may be up for grabs...LOL!!! Unlikely tho. Chad |
