I don't use my vacuum cleaners on any set schedule -- I'm just not that OCD about it. I use one until I decide to use another one.
The cleaner I currently am using always takes pride of place by the refrigerator, in front of the hallway leading from the kitchen to the rear of the apartment.
As you can see, right now that "machine of honor" is Arlee's Constellation. When he came home he was quite pleased to see it there. |

I don't have a daily driver per-say. I usually rotate machines to keep the lubricants flowing. Though If I'm expecting guests I pull out the Hoover model 69 since it fluffs up the carpet quite nicely. The coffeecan machines do so as well, but I seldom use them to keep from wearing them out since parts for those are somewhat hard to come by.
Nearly mint machines such as my Eureka 2083 and Hoover model 63 get pulled out and used 3 or 5 times of the month. -Alex |

We vacuum daily, with two very large Border Collies. The machine we normally reach for is the Hide-A-Hose and our Vacuflo central vac. Used with a Volt cordless power nozzle with Steel brush roll, it does a very good (and very quick) job (plus the hose goes back into the wall - so cool).
On my days off work, I usually do a more thorough job of cleaning. That's where the 'stash' of vacuums at home comes in. The Hoover WindtunnelMAX gets a lot of use, as does the Dyson DC17 Absolute, and the Kenmore Direct Drive upright. For a canister, it's almost always the Electrolux (Aerus) Guardian Platinum, the Tri-Star MG2, or the Filter Queen Majestic Triple Crown. On the VERY RARE occasion, the Kirby G3 thunders out to do carpet duty along with the Electrolux central vac hose plugged into an electrovalve so I can use the Sidekick. If I'm feeling nostalgic, I might (MIGHT) use any of the Rainbows I have around the house. Once a year, the Signature Series Air-Way will rear it's head for the best and most thorough clean.

Not OCD about it either, but generally for a quick 'tour' I use a Connie for the dog hair on the floor. If I want to super clean the house I use a Diamond J....once in a great while, the turquoise G. I have Elux PN's hidden everywhere....not sure how that happened.

Any Convertible is fine, although, I DO have favorites. For a lot of serious cleaning, Miss Connie Hoover comes out to play. If I'm in the mood, I'll grab a Slimline. For the tile areas, I might grab a nice Handivac. Brushvac for the big carpeted staircase.
Sometimes, to be nostalgic, OR to give the motors a spin, I'll go and get an older machine. Just because............................... |
