I just recently bought a Eureka Mighty Mite and it wokrs wonders! What do you guys think of the Mighty Mite? Is it as good as the 80s models or has it cheapened a bit?

My experiences with them are limited to the Sanitaire (red line) badged one I had, it was a pretty decent straight suction machine but it's one fault was how horribly loud it was, that's the factor that made me give it away.

We have had one at our beach house for about ten years and it's still working. We have mainly hardwood floors so it's used for that and cleaning the furniture of my dog's hair. The tools are not the best and the hose has a permanent crimp in it where it meets the handle but for about $80 I cannot complain. It is loud but it gets the job done. It's paired with a blue Sanitaire upright.

Mine is indeed a little loud, but it is very good on hardwood floors. I always have to adjust that airflow valve. For rugs and stuff.

The combination dusting brush and upholstery nozzle is not as good as the traditional separate Eureka tools found on the current Sanitaire deluxe Mighty Mite and all the older Mighty Mite II's from the 1990's and original Mighty Mites from the 1980's.

Also the deluxe versions come with a much better German-made carpet nozzle with steel sole-plate - like a Miele.

Love the long, lightweight 7-foot hose!!!!

My biggest problem with all Mighty Mites was the powerful exhaust aimed right at the floor. As soon as any of the powerful 9amp versions are turned on, they create a windstorm of dirt kicked up off the floor. They really could use a diffuser.

The Sanitaire version does seem to have much more well designed tools. It even has the telescoping wand. Better looking tools etc.

Mighty Mite + Sanitaire upright sounds like a good cleaning combo

Indeed - the more deluxe Sanitaire versions look excellent: it may even solve the problem of powerful exhaust as I think they come with a Eureka Hepa Filter cartridge fitted on the rear end which may diffuse some of the windstorm it creates.

I have an older one and I am guessing it is late 80s or early 90s. Bought at a yard sale years ago. It has pretty good suction and is really quiet. Has the full sized tools. I don't use it much but maybe I should. I like the blower port.
