Hi Si: That sounds like one of the machines made by Phoenix Mfg in England. They produced basically the same machine through the 40's 50's and possibly even part of the 60's if memory serves me correctly. They were made under many different names (depending on which store was ordering them). I have 3 different ones under the names Easy Torwin and Whirlwind. Doug This is the Whirlwind

Hi Si: Good to hear from you too. Yep - I believe they use a 1" diameter connection (as did alot of machines at the time - like president/bylock, vactric, ruton, and the ones by Siroma Engineering)where as the Electrolux and most of the others used 1.25". As well some like the old hoovers and the GE's used 1.5" Another interesting thing about these machines. The hose was actually metal - covered with cloth and lined with rubber. I try to answer what I can. I think I've got a bit more information about the European machines than most as they were sold in Canada as well but very little in the US. Doug | ||
