I noticed the my Kenmore progressive 300 Upright (circa 1996) Has the Kenmore Logo in yellow, when my Progressive canister (circa 1999) has gray logo's which seem more common. Why is this?
Thanks
Andy

The early Kenmores with the new logo were mostly in gold. Your Kenmore is probably more around the 1999-2000 vintage. Those definately weren't being made yet in 1996. The old-style Kenmore uprights with the independant brushroll motor and metal handle were still being made in '96. I'm pretty sure the Progressives replaced the Whispertones as their "mainstream" model around 1999, and whatever Whispertones left were lower end. The newly designed Progressive uprights and canisters were quite different from the old Whispertones.

I agree with the above. The metal handled PowerPath uprights Whispertone, etc were still being made in 1996 with the new logo, as I have a brochure from that year.

My parents bought a hunter green Kenmore Whispertone canister in later 1999. I do not remember if the Progressive canisters were out then, but I'm pretty sure they were. The Whispertone wasn't TOL anymore and was the more basic model, and later it changed from the squared body to a jellybean shape more like the Progressive around 2001.

And the early Progressive canisters didn't have Whisperbelt power nozzles it seems.

The yellow logo tended to appear on blue vacuums whereas the more gray one seemed to be on green colored vacuums.

Ah. Thanks! The upright was my grandmothers, amongst other machines, and she also had a whispertone upright. My other gramma has the 'economy' version of this canister in green, with the grey logo
