I have a old Electrolux vacuum model 1453, seriel # W19232A, which my wife bought brand new back in either the late 1970's or early 1980's ?
I think my motor is one it's way out on the Electrolux Power Nozzle it is a
Model PN4A, it says underneath it was called a RugSaver 1.4 amps, 120 volts.
Is there anyone who can show or tell me how to take apart and put back together the power nozzle after I replace the suspected dying dead motor ?
This vacuum works like a beast and is super strong and takes a beating, I would really like to see if I could buy a new motor and also a new belt at the same time and be able to use this old faithful vacuum.
We have had this vacuum for at least 35 years and they sure don't make them like this anymore.
Would a PN4 motor work on this ? I noticed one of those on another website for sale.
Anyone who can let me know where a manual is on how to take this vacuum a part I would be very much appreciative for any help whatsoever.
Hello and welcome to Vacuumland. Here is some information albeit my knowledge of Electrolux pn mechanics is limited.
1) The Model 1453/Deluxe Special ('deluxe' meant that it the power nozzle was part of the original package and 'special' meant that it had a special or more economic price) was the manual or basic model which was sold in 4 color combinations that matched the automatic or standard models during these periods (attachments were the same):
1979-82: brown/ivory (standard model 1401, 1401-B, 1505/Olympia One)
1982-84: 2-tone gray (like yours) (standard model 1505/Silverado)
1984-87: sand/jade (standard model 1521/Diamond Jubilee)
1987-88: taupe/sand (standard model 1521/Marquise)
2) The Model PN-4A, I believe, was the same as the Model PN-4 except that the motor housing on the former was shorter to better accommodate cleaning underneath furniture.
