Was given a dc21 today, not fond of it so far, seems to have blockage in that pain in the tuckus long hose, maybe by the cuff/ swivel? What size are the torx screws? I have 15 and 10, its smaller than that. Any help here anyone? Please.

They be T9

I think it is T8, and if there is a hose blockage, I would squeeze the hose to find the blockage. Them stand on the blockage whilst the machine is on and that will squash it and get it sucked up hopefully.

They were t9 on my mini set I bought.Took the coupling apart, there was a large piece of plactic blocking70% of the airway, needlenose pulled it out.He used a garden hose often to wash out the crud, boy does it stink! Very heavy and complicated machine, the motor head is rather big too

I first used my Electrolux Silverado on reverse suck of the hose, it normally unplugs anything, not this time.

Good job, hopefully you will like the machine after you have refurbished it :)
They were sold here for a short period of time, but the straight suction versions are much popular and these are so many around (DC08/18/20).

I had a DC08, it had amazing suction, 330 AW of constant suction, almost as much as a Miele. It had a contact head fitted to it aswell which sealed in suction perfectly and always stayed in contact with any carpet. It survived 4 months of being used for plaster dust, nails, screws, sawdust, rubble, being dropped, vacuuming the stuff up without a filter, being left outside in the snow, rain and sun.

After that, I took it home and tried it. The switch was broken from all the abuse and temperature changes. It had a rusty motor but it worked well and still had it's suction!

It seems very heavy and complicated for my use, I enjoy my two small dyson's. Very nice bare floor brush, will say that, suction seems stong yes. Still drying out and un stinking. Thank you for your input :)

No problem :) they seem to have a nice powerful Motorhead. Nice machine but they are quite bulky I agree, the shape is really cylindrical and eurgh. :P

Thanks, he takes pretty good care of things, just didn't figure how to unplug it! Had to do a lot of cleaning as it had gotten damp and muddy from him hosing out the plugged hose. Oh the stink! Gone now. Too heavy and clumsy for me for regular use, but well made.
